I started my month off in Regina Saskatchewan, for the C5 Rodeo Pile O’ Bones rodeo! I had so much fun singing the national anthem and participating in Crowd giveaways with Lammles. I then caught a plane back to Calgary where I drove straight to the Strathmore Stampede rodeo grounds! I had the privilege of watching the crowning of the new Queen. Congratulations to Ellen Van Noordenburg on a fabulous year, and best of luck to Tenley Warburton on her journey! After watching some awesome rodeo action, participating in community events and even judging a lip sync competition, I hopped in my gorgeous Ram 1500 “Goose” from Innisfail Chrysler, and headed north.
La Crete Field of Dreams Stampede truly has my heart as I loved the rodeo and community. I am so grateful to have been a part of such a special rodeo performance. The community was so involved and made it a memorable experience! While I was in La Crete, I had the privilege of announcing our official MISS RODEO CANADA 2025 Contestants! I am so excited for these ladies to embark on their journeys and for our rodeo family to get to know them better leading up to CFR50!
Making this trip to 3 provinces in two weeks, I headed to beautiful British Columbia for the Dawson Creek Stampede! I was so grateful to be so involved with our amazing sponsor Longhorn Oilfield Services while I was there. I was so thrilled to present a donation on behalf of Longhorn Oilfield Services as well as the Miss Rodeo Canada organization to the Tse’K’wa Heritage society for all of their amazing work they are doing to preserve the history of the land. After some incredible rodeo action, chuckwagon racing and community events, I wrapped up my time in Dawson Creek!
On my way through Calgary I stopped in to visit the incredible team at Lammles and did some videos and content creation for CFR50! I then made my way to Cranbrook BC for their rodeo performances there! I had so much fun cheering on our athletes and taking in the gorgeous views on my way there!
Okotoks Pro Rodeo was my next stop as I watched the crowning of their new queen! Congratulations to Avery Moore on an exceptional year and best of luck to Grace LeFresne for her year! We had so much fun touring the Bar U ranch, watching rodeo action, and participating in the wild pony racing! We unfortunately did not have a super successful ride, but we had so much fun!
Wrapping up the month of August, I was so excited to drive to Armstrong BC for the SMS Pro Tour Finals at the Armstrong IPE & Stampede! What an electric crowd, fast times and great rides. I was so grateful to be a part of the performances, 4-H events, and community activities. I also had the honor of cutting out a silver maple leaf at Dominic’s Silver and Spurs, that will be used on the next Miss Rodeo Canada set of spurs. It is such a special moment to leave a piece of yourself for the next queen to take with her on all of her travels.
I loved every minute of our finals! I am so excited to see some of our athletes again at CFR50!
With my whole heart,
Miss Rodeo Canada 2024
Kaylee Shantz
