And the adventure begins…

January was filled with lots of travel which brought new and exciting experiences through each part of my journey.

I started my month off in sunny San Diego for the one of a kind C5 Rodeo in Petco Park! I celebrated my 25th birthday and got to attend my first rodeo as Miss Rodeo Canada all in the same day! I had the most amazing trip getting to see the transformation of the Padres Baseball stadium, turning into a world class rodeo venue. With sold out crowds, top rodeo athletes and incredible stock, this rodeo really was a home run!

My next adventure took me to Denver, Colorado for the National Western Stock Show & Rodeo! But, before I got on the plane I was surprised by Janine's Custom Creations with my beautiful custom-made Pendleton winter coat - so excited to show this off.  They say that Denver hosts the “Best 16 Days in January” and after my experience here, I could not agree more. There is so much to see and do during this event and I truly enjoyed every moment from touring livestock competitions, helping with grand entries and sponsor flag laps during rodeo performances, meeting fellow sash sisters representing rodeo from various states, taking a visit to the state Capitol Building and so much more. On this trip I also got to meet Miss Rodeo America, Callie Mueller, who I am very excited to spend some more time with this year!

From Denver, I flew to Texas for the Dallas Market! Now.. you know the saying everything is bigger in Texas.. when it comes to shopping, everything is bigger at the Dallas Market! This event is absolutely incredible and truly is the definition of a shoppers paradise. It brings out vendors from all over the world.  I was so grateful to connect with our sponsor reps for Wrangler, Dan Post Boots, Montana Silversmiths and Double D Ranchwear (All available at Lammle's Western Wear)!  What a surprise to receive my hand-made Miss Rodeo Canada 2025 buckle, thank you to Ted and Callie at Montana Silversmiths.  And, thank you to Mike at Dan Post Boots for my first pair of boots!

While in Texas, I had the opportunity to make a trip over to Fort Worth to attend Katy Lucas-Berg’s (Miss Rodeo Canada 2015) baby shower where we celebrated baby Hadley! It is so special to see all the incredible things that our alumni go on to do past the crown, and we are so excited to celebrate Katy entering this new chapter of motherhood!

After the baby shower, we toured Fort Worth Stock Yards and Cowboy Channel Studio (absolutely amazing to see both). We then headed over to Dickie's Arena where I had the unique privilege of riding in the grand entry parade for the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. This is an iconic part of this rodeo, and it was an honour to have the chance to experience it while representing Canada and Canadian Rodeo.

My travels then took me back home where I had a little bit of time to take part in some community events and get ready for all that’s next to come!

Happy Trails,

Codi Wilson
