Hi everyone, I hope you’ve enjoyed your summer, and are ready for fall because I think it’s here, whether we like it or not!
For me the fall season approaching means weather changing, rodeo season ending and going back to school. It also means my reign as Miss Rodeo Canada 2008 is coming to an end. The 2009 pageant is gearing up, with 5 contestants ready to fight for the title! This year, the pageant starts at the end of October and Miss Rodeo Canada 2009 will be announced Tuesday, November 4th at a luncheon hosted at the Westin, Edmonton. Check out our website for more details, www.missrodeocanada.ca. Miss Rodeo Canada 2009 will be introduced at the CFR on Wednesday night, so don’t miss it!
As my year comes to a close, I have countless memories to cherish and still have events remaining in my reign to look forward to. My summer finished with a trip back to the Jasper Heritage Rodeo, were my journey as Queen began with Miss Rodeo Jasper 2007. It was great to feel at home in Jasper! My week was filled with Miss Rodeo Canada duties, as well as having the chance to re-kindle many friendships and see some many familiar faces. It certainly is a busy rodeo when you are royalty. Pattie kept us running and ran with us, to ride abouts’ around town, hospital visits, meeting sponsors, the stick pony parade, judging the business decorating contest and so much more!
From Jasper, I made a quick stop at home and then continued south to Lethbridge. I had a 6 day stay there, where I was hosted with a warm welcome and kept busy with seniors centers, breakfasts, BBQ’s, and three rodeo performances. My stay in the windy city also included one of my favorite Queen duties, a visit to the pediatrics ward of the local hospital. It always warms my heart to make these visits, to be able to brighten a child’s day and put a smile on their face. It is priceless, and a reminder of the gifts that the Miss Rodeo Canada title brings. I have felt blessed to have been able to do this while carrying my title.
Until next month, may your everyday be filled with happiness and take the time to tell a cowgirl how much your appreciate her!
