Dana Hansen - Miss Rodeo Canada Princess 2010
My life as Princess - June

I started out last month with a very relaxing Good Friday, I spent my day at Pure Elements Salon and Spa in Sherwood Park. Thank you Chad and staff for your amazing services. I received a number compliments on your work at the Canadian College Finals Rodeo the following week!
Britteny and I spent the three days up at Northlands Park in Edmonton, supporting the intercollegiate circuit. We both participated in grand entry, and then Britteny presented the winners with their buckles, while I lead the victory laps with the Go Round Leaders. It was great to be able to watch the cowboys and cowgirls we grew up with compete for their national titles! Congratulations to all the contestants, you are representing our heritage so wonderfully!
I was thankful this month was a little slower on the rodeo end of my life as I was busy planning Rig Manager Meetings for my employer Patterson-UTI Drilling. As many of you know I am the “Personnel Gal” at Patterson-UTI Drilling. I am responsible for ensuring all of our Canadian rigs are properly crewed. Also once a year the office and field management and staff get together to discuss our past year & what is to come in the future. Besides preparing for my presentation, my skills were tested in another way as I planned six days of meetings, leadership courses, and extra curricular activities. For anyone who is wondering where the attributes of being a rodeo princess are relevant in the “Real World” – this is where! Keeping your composure, staying positive and being able to handle and fix any dilemma that comes your way, with a smile. One of the greatest benefits of being Rodeo Royalty is not riding around waving to people, it is the benefit of becoming a well rounded educated young woman who is ready to face any challenge she meets – head on! Our meetings went off without a hitch – well at least that’s what the other 80 people thought!
That Sunday Britteny and I went down to Red Deer to the Mane Event. We had a very successful autograph signing at Canadian Country Cowboy Magazine’s booth. We always have a good time with Sherry and Meaghan with Canadian Cowboy Country. We also presented the Trainer’s Challenge Award, congrats to Ken McNabb on a horse well started!
I finished off the month at the Black Gold Rodeo in Leduc. I am proud to be a part of the Black Gold Riders, where we ran a fantastic pattern, helped with chase out, and received 2nd in the parade! Another successful years ladies, well done!
In May we had the privilege of attending the media release for the Canadian Country Music Awards at West Edmonton Mall. Here we got the meet George Canyon where I even got a kiss on the cheek! And just in case you’re wondering, yes I did end up having to washing my face!
790 CFCW an Alberta radio station and a huge supporter of the Miss Rodeo Canada Organization put on a concert benefiting Britteny and myself, to help us get down the road. The talented Danny Hooper & Gene Watson performed for the sold out crowd. We would like to thank 790 CFCW, all of the volunteers and of course all of the people who came out and supported us and helped raise over $11, 000.00 through the silent auction.
Next stop – Ponoka Stampede! Until then , Live simply, Love seriously, Speak kindly – leave the rest to God!
Happy Trails & God Bless
