Britteny FosterBritteny Foster’s dream of being Miss Rodeo Canada became a reality on November 12th, 2009.  The crowning took place at the 2nd annual Miss Rodeo Canada Luncheon at the Westin Hotel in Edmonton, Alberta. Born and raised in Peace River, the former Miss Grande Prairie Stompede is proud to be crowned the 42nd First Lady of professional rodeo, and grateful to have the opportunity to uphold the beloved western lifestyle.  “It is crucial to educate and share our passion of rodeo with everyone who is unfamiliar with our sport and lifestyle.  It is my goal to reach out and touch the lives of rodeo spectators and make them into true rodeo fans”, Britteny notes.

The 22 year old barrel racer recently completed her fourth year at the University of Alberta with the aspiration of receiving her Bachelor of Education Secondary degree.  Britteny’s focus is working with special needs students and teaching communication & technology studies (CTS).  She plans to complete her final semester following her reign as Miss Rodeo Canada 2010.

At the age of 10 years, Britteny began competitively barrel racing and recalls fondly competing in the Alberta High School Rodeo Association.  This young woman still finds time to barrel race within various associations in the province such as the Alberta Barrel Racing Association, Northern Redneck Riders and the Peace Country Barrel Racing Association.

Britteny feels blessed to have the endless support of her loving parents Bill and Diane Foster. “I hold my family close to my heart.  They have taught me to stay true to myself, follow my dreams, and to carry my head high.  I am truly grateful to have remarkable role models and true mentors as parents… I love them with all of my being”, she says.

This year, Britteny will attend over 300 appearances throughout Canada and the United States.  She will be educating the public about rodeo, inspiring young minds to follow their dreams and ensuring the continual prosperity of rodeo.  She is an enthusiastic, determined and caring young woman who is devoted to volunteering and fundraising for a variety of charities.

“As Miss Rodeo Canada 2010, my goal is to encourage every person that I meet to follow their heart, and achieve what they desire most. It is my calling in life help others in need.  I long to lift the spirits of the individuals that I encounter, and strive to inspire others to make the world a better place”
