Big fun for a Big show!

Britteny, Jocelyne (chaperone), and I arrived in Houston with big smiles and even bigger time crunch! We had an hour to get from the airport, to our hotel, change, and be at the Reliance Center for the rodeo. Our friends with the Calgary Stampede had gotten us in the grand entry and we didn’t want to be late… no problem! We had “Suzy” our GPS tour guide. Well lets just say you can’t trust a guide that while on the interstate with no turn offs says “wrong turn – recalculating” never the less we made it with time to spare! We were greeted and helped by the many wonderful volunteers and were invited to come back and ride in the grand entry every night! There is no word to describe the feeling of thousands of people smiling and waving to us, and all the Canadians cheering when we’re announced! While down there we met up with our sponsors Patterson-UTI Drilling who have come on as a huge supporter of the Miss Rodeo Canada program. We got a quick tour of the beautiful city of Houston, and even managed to catch a concert or two. You may have heard of them, Rascal Flatts & Tim McGraw!?  Amazing!

Back at home we went to the Alberta Equestrian Federation’s annual general meeting down in Red Deer. We learnt more on worms and bits and subjects we thought we knew about. We also had the privilege of attending the “Little Bits” fundraiser. This incredible program enables horse enthusiasts with special needs the opportunity to make a connection with new friends both 2 & 4 legged. We ended the month with an autograph signing at Cavalier’s booth at Can Am in Calgary. Britteny and I look forward to working with these organizations and sponsors a lot more through out this next year!
