Aaron Courchesne - Miss Rodeo Canada 2009

On November 4th 2008 at the 1st annual Miss Rodeo Canada Luncheon, held at the Westin Hotel, Aaron Courchesne was crowned the 41st Miss Rodeo Canada. The former Miss Rodeo Okotoks topped the Rodeo Knowledge written Exam and the coveted Horsemanship Award to win the overall title. Aaron is only the second Okotoks representative to be Miss Rodeo Canada.

The 24-year-old cowgirl resides in Claresholm, Alberta. Aaron is a graduate of NAIT with a Horsemanship Major from Fairview college. Aaron will continue her education after her reign, pursuing a Degree in Public Relations.

Rodeo Queen Competitions are nothing new to this Cowgirl. Aaron has previously held the following titles: Paddle Valley Trail Riders Queen, Edmonton Gymkhana Association Queen, Alberta Western Saddle and Gymkhana Association Queen, and recently Miss Rodeo Okotoks 2007-2008.

In addition to competing in Barrel racing, Aaron also enjoys riding and training horses, raising Jack Russell puppies, reading the latest “thriller”, and helping with the farm and ranch work.

Aaron is the daughter of Miles and Alice Courchesne and the sister to 4 younger brothers. “Throughout my life my family has instilled in me the morals, work ethic and determination it takes to succeed in the arena and in life. I would not be the woman I am today without the steady guidance from my parents.”

Aaron believes that as Miss Rodeo Canada it is a powerful privilege and her duty to serve. She believes this unique opportunity will allow her to open herself to the world. “I will reach great heights by lifting up the lives of others. I am now in a position to create a real and lasting positive footprint in the world in which we live.”

This year Aaron will make over 300 appearances across Canada and the United States. She’ll educate the public, inspire young minds, sign autographs, and do her part to motivate rodeo goers and contestants to keep the rodeo tradition thriving for years to come.

I will do this by being a shining example of an honourable person, who always practices skilled horsemanship, who applies strong morals and ethics to my day to day life, gives selflessly and always recognizes the contribution of sponsors and volunteers. With a positive outlook on life, ambition, desire and enthusiasm I will motivate our rodeo family and together we will ensure the future of rodeo stays strong.”

Aaron has a message for everyone she will meet in her travels. “I want everyone to find their passion, and then run with it. Never put limits on yourself. Never let anyone tell you to quit. If you want it, go for it.” “ I did, and now I’m Miss Rodeo Canada.” “Dreams really do come true.”
